Entry Description

While standing in harmony with the forest, this home kept its built footprint to a minimum and saved every tree on the plot.

The project explores the possibilities of low energy construction in high quality housing using an FSC-certified wood structure, a renewable material with no carbon emissions. Water recycling systems service the house, and the strategic layout responds to the cold climate with nearly zero energy required.

The spatial quality lies in the subtlety of the design and its connection to nature. With its clean lines and sparse materials, this retreat invites contemplation.

Bio

In 2021, Architect César Flores established CF Taller de Arquitectura, a Mexican firm focused on the development of comprehensive architectural projects, after leading another practice for several years. The firm is constantly searching for ways to transform its context and to reinterpret the way in which people experience and appropriate space.

The team has extensive experience in residential, office and commercial projects, and have conceptualized and built a large number of projects both in Mexico and in the world.
