Entry Description

In the heart of Tunis, a UNESCO site in danger, historic rooftops are being reclaimed by informal settlements. This project begins with observation and mapping—not restoration, but reinforcement. A modular “rooftop toolkit” offers adaptable structures for shade, rainwater harvesting, and gardening. Designed for community use and seasonal flexibility, rooftops become spaces for prayer, play, and gathering. By stabilizing ruins and supporting rooftop life, the project fosters ecological resilience and social infrastructure rooted in cultural continuity.
