Entry Description

Situated between the Santa Lucia mountains and Big Sur cliffs, the home's site, once thought flat, was revealed to be an infilled ravine with a seasonal waterway. This discovery shaped the design, emphasizing watershed remediation. The building’s form, splits around the ravine, connected by a bridge overlooking the restored stream. The architecture and materiality are informed by the adjacent rock outcropping and land forms. The project focuses on ecological restoration and site analysis, with the house sited to protect long-term watershed health while integrating with the architecture.
