Entry Description

“The wall essentially turns Palestine into the world’s largest open prison."
The Israel–West Bank barrier, built after 2002 attacks, is seen by Israel as protection, but by Palestinians as land theft and apartheid. Graffiti has emerged as a tool of resistance, expressing solidarity, protest, and hope. Despite repeated erasure by Israeli forces, it reemerges, turning the wall into a visual battleground. This inspires a design for schools as spaces of justice: “multiple masonry walls” for expression—classroom on one side, resistance on the other—preserving memory and empowering silenced voices
