“Failure to Thrive” explores the concept of failed metamorphosis through garments inspired by arrested growth in insects. Referencing moments like dragonflies stuck in their exoskeletons or butterflies trapped in cocoons, the collection visualizes stunted transformation. Leathers, silks, and pleated fabrics are paired with hand-crafted textiles like mesh backed silicone-encased butterfly wings, hardened sculptural surfaces, and shaped silk abaca in efforts to evoke the tension of development interrupted.
