Entry Description

Set on a secluded peninsula, this off-grid retreat offers an escape for an urban family of five. Tucked below a ridge of exposed bedrock, the two-level cottage is accessed by a bridge leading to the upper level—realizing the family’s vision for a space that “floats above the forest floor.” Expansive windows and doors immerse the main living areas in nature. Below, five bedrooms open to the forest, while a sixth accessible bedroom sits above. Built from sustainably harvested wood and powered by solar energy, the cottage is a low-impact, year-round dwelling deeply rooted in its landscape.
