The University of Hong Kong Annual Report 2023-24 Design

We used the motif of tiny pinpoints to symbolise the efforts of the many members and stakeholders of HKU coming together to realise a shared vision. The University's signature colour is a dark green, so using a clean, graphic style of green pinpoints against a white background throughout the publication reinforces the idea of collective effort and gives visual unity to the whole. On the cover, the pinpoints coalesce to form the iconic Main Building and the typography. They also allow the reader to "see the light" as the dots are in fact laser cut perforations that tempt the reader what's next.

Malou is an international award-winning branding designer based in Hong Kong. She started THE CABINET design studio since 2005 where she has worked for more than 200 international and local projects with over 130 clients such as, Standard Chartered, Cathay Pacific, Ralph Lauren, Sheraton, KEF, Nan Fung Group, The "Star" Ferry, Chubb, Starbucks... She connects people through design. She is PolyU Design Young Design Alumna of the Year 2024 in Entrepreneurial Achievement and Associate Member of the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Association. She won 120+ local and international design awards.
