Located in Dahlonega, GA, this public library serves as a community hub for learning, wellbeing, and climate resilience. Elevated on piers at the edge of a reservoir, it minimizes site disturbance while maximizing views and daylight. Inspired by Southern porches, it provides shade, ventilation, and community space. Built with locally sourced timber, the design reduces embodied carbon, supports Georgia’s forestry economy, and integrates passive strategies, rainwater harvesting, and solar energy, achieving net-positive performance while fostering ecological health and community belonging.
