Nanhu Place, by South Lake in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, is an innovative urban renewal project that adaptively reuse historical structures to integrate culture, commerce and tourism. Through thoughtful interpretation of local architecture and curated public spaces, the team created a vibrant landmark on South Lake’s eastern shore that reflects its cultural essence. The design bridges old and new through strategic use of public spaces, using an iconic visual language inspired by the existing urban context. Nanhu Place has emerged as a notable destination both in Jiaxing and beyond.
