Entry Description

Opticane is an IoT-based cane designed to support visually impaired individuals worldwide.
With its sensors and AI-driven voice command system, this smart cane offers enhanced navigation guidance through haptic feedback and audio cues. The built-in camera converts visual data into voice, assisting users in daily scenarios such as shopping, money management, and public transportation.

By leveraging advanced technology and fostering social connections, Opticane goes beyond being a simple navigation tool; it actively promotes a more inclusive and diverse community.

Bio

Fahimeh Sarrafian is an industrial designer who merges analytical precision with human-centered insight to create accessible, manufacturable solutions. Using research-driven methods, she turns complex findings into intuitive products that enhance everyday experiences. Her work spans medical devices to household objects, balancing usability, sustainability, and technical feasibility. Guided by evidence and iteration, she views design as a process of continuous learning that transforms ideas into meaningful, lasting solutions.
