Queen sees the substantial restoration of an 1872 heritage building. An existing shop and residence has been converted into a glamorous and light-filled family home.
The essence of ‘home’ worked to inform the materiality of the project. Warm and highly tactile finishes were intentionally sourced, bringing a sense of intimacy into the otherwise vast room forms of this family home. The project features expressed timber beams (salvaged from old wharfs), distressed timber flooring, antique timber doors, tumbled marble floors, terracotta paving, natural stone joinery and weathered brass hardware.
