The captivating and visual appealing collectible vinyl toy series - "My Munchkin Cat", combines elements of pop culture, Manga influences, and retro Y2K aesthetics to create a marketable and beloved product. The design focuses on providing a delightful and immersive experience for toy collectors of all ages, evoking a sense of joy, nostalgia, and emotional connection.
Going beyond a mere character, the toy incorporates a rich backstory and world design. Each toy comes with a playhouse-like experience, mimicking the process of adopting a real cat from a shelter.
Shixun Chen is a T-shaped cross disciplinary designer. Her interests range from 3D art, media design, vinyl toys to product design. She’s an animal person and she infuses her love into those cute pieces. The adorable figures are to cure the stress, loneliness and hardships of life. She hopes the rabbits and cats can warm the audience up, help them relax, slow down and treasure the little lucky moments.
Shixun earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Automotive Engineering from Tsinghua University, China and Master of Science in Industrial Design from ArtCenter College of Design.
