The new promenade deck with its universal accessibility is an important part of the future development of the city of Erfurt and the new ICE City. The design maxim for the horizontal landmark is to offer an attractive, elegant bridge structure as well as highly functional urban furniture. The emphasis is a minimal, simple and clear formal language that highlights the outstanding engineering of the new emblematic piece of infrastructure. Even at night the concise and simple silhouette stands out due to a simple linear illumination.
DKFS is a British-German company founded by Dirk Krolikowski and Falko Schmitt with an interdisciplinary approach to design. Our main goal is to improve the quality of human infrastructure and innovate new models with unprecedented quality of use, sustainability and design that suit our modern lifestyle. DKFS aims to develop existing models of contemporary infrastructure further and create value through an intensive dialogue-based process. This involves close collaboration with engineers and international industry experts as well as close ties to the academic environment through teaching.
