Entry Description

Heimaklettur is a high energy performance Farm House built for an ambitious young family getting back to the land in Langley, BC, Canada. Heimaklettur (home rock) is a nod to their Icelandic heritage - the name of the mountain in their father’s hometown of Vestmannaeyjar.
The house’s double gable form references contemporary Iceland/Greenland dwellings that feature pitched roofs, lean-to additions, traditional wood framing, often highlighted by bright and contrasting cladding.
The client build the home entirely themselves, achieving near-passivhaus energy performance.
