On the morning of 16 April 2014, the MV Sewol ferry sank when on route from Incheon towards Jeju. Facing the tragic and significant event head on, the design team proposes to avoid providing a simple and symbolic physical gesture in which expresses a conclusive attitude. We believe 416 memorial park should embrace, and persist the ongoing memories of those lost through connecting, both physically and spiritually, the victims and the public, death and life, the traumatic memory and home.
