WXY architecture + urban design (formerly weisz + yoes) is an award-winning multi-disciplinary practice based in New York City where architecture is informed by an in-depth and multi-disciplinary process of design research. This process gives form to inventive solutions that seek to provide added value to the client and the public while creating objects and spaces that enrich one?s experience of the environments in which we inhabit. Whether the project is big or small, all our projects emphasize sustainability and evolve through a collaborative and integrative approach to the planning and design of our projects and as a critical response to specific conditions of program, site context, and technical requirements. Our projects prioritize an ambition for the optimum environmental and formal relationship such that new relationships can emerge in ways that reframe the city, the site, the program and the project?s mission. With experience in managing projects at a wide range of scales, WXY possesses the expertise to coordinate and solve complex design problems and to bring those solutions to constructed reality. WXY is celebrated for its interest and agility in relating architecture, culture, civic infrastructure, and public space to the intimate scale of individuals and to the grander presence of the urban environment. The firm was featured as one of 2006?s Design Innovators by Chrysler/House Beautiful and as one of the Architectural League?s New York Designs in 2006 and received the Young Architects Award in 1998. Their work has received several AIA and ASLA awards for the Battery Bosque, Kowsky Plaza, and the Bronx Charter School for the Arts, among other awards. The firm was a finalist in competitions to design the New York Aquarium, FIAO Cultural Center, the Center for Architecture, and a new Sculpture Center in Long Island City?s new cultural district. The firm was also official runner-up in the PORT team for the international competition to revitalize Toronto?s Central Waterfront. The firm?s work has been widely published and exhibited, including at the German Center for Architecture DAZ in Berlin and the Center for Architecture in New York. Their current work includes both urban and institutional-scale projects. WXY is pre-qualified as one of 24 firms in the DDC Design Excellence program and is a NYC- and NYS-certified Woman-Owned Business Enterprise.
