Aloha Dry Cleaners

When the Architect for the building renovation, Perez Design Inc. introduced me to Nancy Barbalaco, owner at Aloha Cleaners, the architectural style for the building was already established: tropical colors on a revamped "deco style" building.

My inspiration and challenge as the interior designer was to bring that theme inside, adding to the style to fulfill my client's thriving desire for "an avant garde" design.

A new paradigm was born for Aloha Cleaners, the fusion of a "deco style" and a vision for a contemporary concept where my client could “utilize her fashion skills for alterations and become more of a couture-quality cleaners”, as she stated in the Atlantic Ave magazine, June 2010.

My design concept for the space began to flow inspired by the glamorous materials of the art deco style period.
My proposed design concept, finishes, fixtures and materials included luxurious textured resilient vinyl flooring encased in pearlescent drops, in a chic and opulent onyx color. Enchanting glass beaded wall covering in silver tones to enhance the redesigned “star” fitting room. Silver and copper metallic paint for the flowing soffits above and satin silver applied to columns and beams. Rich iridescent fabrics for the fitting room curtain, silver blue on one side and orange copper on the other. Silver and metallic sparkles on quartz countertops surfaces adding richness to Mahogany veneered customer service desks. Swarovski pendants over the front desk and LED strips of light under.

Lighting was also purposely designed to enhance “the star” fitting room with crisp LED recessed down light fixtures.

To complete the general illumination, 3 round floating pendant fixtures in 3 different colors, added the pizzazz to make a "dry-cleaning & alterations business" a visually pleasant experience.
