Entry Description

Mississippi Museum of Art, Jackson, included interpretive spaces within its Picturing Mississippi, 18172017 exhibition. A Closer Look Gallery explored the elements of art via playful activities on line, color, and shape. Family Corners introduced the subjectivity of maps, immersed visitors in a painting where they became the composition, humorously explained dangers of 19th-century river travel, invited close looking at artwork, and encouraged contemplation and expression about cotton. Pop-up interactives appeared near five works of art that encouraged deeper analyses of those pieces.
