At The Lounge, our team was responsible for the design of the 6th floor amenity space and outdoor patio. We were tasked with the goal of creating gracious spaces which could accommodate the residents’ daily needs and also serve as a special event venue.
Among the most important features of the spaces are the "chandeliers." These possess a scale which makes them part of the architecture. On the dining side, the lighting element is both a homage to the famous Richard Lippold sculpture over the bar at the now defunct Four Seasons Restaurant and a virtual ceiling created by the hanging illuminated globes.
The design as it has been realized is made up of discrete pieces which are organized with the same order and precision as the tower and tailored like a fine suit to create "fabric" of surfaces which envelope the guest, bespoke in the best sense of the word.
Since its founding in 1957, Bentel & Bentel, Architects/Planners AIA has acquired a reputation for superior contemporary design. Our work is consistently bold, modern, creative and beautifully resolved. It spans a wide range of building types and scales, from urban environments to refined interiors and furnishings; and demonstrates our belief that great design manifests its virtues in both its practical and aesthetic qualities.
