1st Annual International Design Awards Party Drew ICFF Tastemakers

(New York) May 22 – The first annual International Design Awards cocktail party last night was a success, drawing design figureheads from architecture, product and interior design, including product designer Karim Rashid; Michael Cannell, New York Editor of Dwell; Stuart Constantine, at the helm of Core77; and celebrated record album designer Chris Woehrle.
“The International Contemporary Furniture Fair was slated to be such an inspiring event,” said IDA founder Hossein Farmani, “that we wanted to invite the most creative design minds to a relaxing place after the show for cocktails and conversation about the state of modern design. Conversations were buzzing. It was an inspiring party, no doubt. No one wanted to leave.”

            The 2007 IDA competition is currently underway, with the extended deadline of July 1. Jurors to be judging the work in the architecture, interior, graphic, product and fashion categories include famed interior designer Kelly Wearstler; Dwell magazine New York Editor Michael Cannell; House Beautiful Senior Style Director Newell Turner; Los Angeles Times WEST Magazine Style Editor Barbara Thornburg; David Hertz, AIA; Gwynne Pugh, AIA; Josh Rubin, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher, cool hunting; Lee Carter, Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director, hintmag.com; Rido Busse, celebrated product designer for Krups and professor at Ulm Design School in Germany; and Rose Apocada, former West Coast Bureau Chief for WWD.
